The Manitoba Federation of Labour is accepting applications for the position of Project Coordinator. This is a full time position with salary and benefits determined by a Collective Agreement. The individual will be required to work in a variety of areas relating to projects or activities of the MFL. Some of these may include but are not limited to the following: Women's Issues, Aboriginal and Workers of Colour Issues, Pension Issues, Environmental/Health and Safety or Compensation Issues. Practical experience and knowledge in these areas would be beneficial.
Applicants interested in applying for this position should possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledgeable and supportive of the structure, principles and objectives of central labour bodies.
- Experienced in preparing, compiling and presenting research data, briefs and reports on topics as directed. Such areas may include but are not limited to topics such as pensions, health & safety, workers compensation and labour legislation.
- Excellent communications skills (oral, written, interpersonal and computer-oriented).
- Experienced in strategic planning, including the analysis of major public policy.
- Ability to communicate and interact with representatives of unions, other labour organizations, government, employer groups, media and community groups.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in planning, organizing and facilitating workshops and conferences.
- Experienced in developing, coordinating and implementing campaigns.
- Proficient and comfortable with public speaking and facilitation.
- Ability and willingness to work independently and in a team.
