MFL/CLC Endorsed Boycotts

Sears Canada
In support of United Steelworkers and their 500 members who were locked out on April 1, 2010, at a Sears warehouse and distribution centre in Vaughan, Ontario. This came after the company asked for rollbacks in pensions, healthcare benefits, vacation entitlements and other concessions. The company walked away from the bargaining table and refused to return.

Canada Post Franchise Outlets Boycott Ended
The CLC endorsed boycott of non-union postal outlets and franchises has been ended at the request of CUPW. The reason for ending the boycott is that there is an effort underway to organize workers employed at these outlets, which is made more difficult if there is an ongoing boycott of the facilities. The end of the boycott does not mean that CUPW supports the privatization of postal services, but simply recognizes the fact that the workers in these outlets need decent wages and basic rights.

Privately owned wine stores in Manitoba
In support of the MGEU over privatization of Manitoba's liquor distribution system, the loss of unionized jobs, the loss of government revenue that funds vital services and the loss of regulatory control over an addictive substance.

Horizon Milling/Robin Hood Products
The company locked out 61 workers on April 25, 2007, in response to the workers request for a fair and equitable collective agreement. (details)

Essex Kent Mushroom, Essex Continental Dist., Unionville Farms
In support of Rol-Land Farms Inc. in Kingsville, Ontario. Workers there have chosen UFCW Canada to represent them, but the owner refuses to recognize the union as the bargaining agent.

Philips Electronics Products
About 125 members of United Steelworkers of America Local 7812 in Saint- Jerome, Quebec, have been employed at Philips for a number of years. The company is transferring its production to Brazil.
