Give Blue Man Group Cold Shoulder

Company producing show is totally anti-union.

The entertainers known as the "Blue Man Group" are coming to the MTS Centre in Winnipeg in September. Union members and other concerned individuals are being asked not to purchase tickets for the show.

The company that is producing the show is notoriously anti-union. They refuse to hire union performers. They refuse to sign agreements with entertainment unions.

When the show was in the middle of an extended run in Toronto, IATSE Local 822 successfully unionized the wardrobe department. The producers quickly closed the show.

Everyone associated with the show who may be seen by the public, including musicians and crew members, are required to wear blue makeup. That ensures that individual people are unrecognizable - and easy to replace without the public noticing if they show any interest in joining a union.

The Canadian Actors Equity Association, the American Federation of Musicians Local 190, and IATSE Local 63 stagehands are asking you not to condone that type of attitude towards the rights of workers. Don't buy tickets for the Blue Man Group when they appear in Winnipeg - or anywhere else.
