Help Secure Anti-Scab Legislation

Federal Bill would prohibit replacement workers during a strike.

The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) and its affiliates are engaged in a fight to win anti-scab legislation at the federal level. The Third and final vote on bill C-257 will come before Parliament on Wednesday, March 21. The Bill has already cleared First and Second reading, and it has a real chance of passing Third Reading and becoming law.

You can help make sure it actually happens. Take a few minutes of your time to contact your Member of Parliament. You can do that by dropping into their constituency office if they're in their home riding at this time, writing them a letter, or by sending them a fax or email.

The CLC has a web page from which you can send your MP a fax. The form has both a pre-written message and space for you to add your own comments - and a photograph if you have one your would like your MP to see. If you prefer to send an email, just click on the link for your MP below. If you're not sure what to say and would like a few idea starters, we're provided a sample letter. After you've sent your message, talk to your friends and ask them to do the same.
