Bringing Smiles to Children

A great time was had by all at the Labour Christmas Tree Party.

The MFL's Annual Labour Christmas Tree celebration provides young children from the core area of Winnipeg with a Christmas Party, entertainment, food, jacket, mitts and hat, and transportation to and from the party. This year, students from Pinkham and Niji Mahkwa schools took part in the festivities.

There were approximately 80 children at the party along with teachers, helpers and principals from both schools. The children enjoyed face painting, a sing along, balloon creations by Kathy Taylor (right), entertainment by Sierra Noble who played the fiddle and did a jig demonstration.

Sierra (below) had the children come up and showed them how to jig. They all had fun trying to do that.

Everyone also enjoyed the hot dogs, juices, milk and ice cream cups. The biggest hit of the party was of course Santa who was there to hand out the Christmas gifts. All of the children got a goody bag when they arrived back at their school.

Members of the Labour Christmas Tree Committee were present, as well as lots of volunteers who helped out. The committee and volunteers all donated their time to help make the party a success.
