Child Care Petition to Prime Minister

Child care advocates, the labour movement, most provinces and others all agree - the direction Prime Minister Harper wants to take in regard to child care is wrong. Paying $100 a month per child under six directly to parents - and then taxing it as income - will not help build a good child care system.

The Manitoba Federation of Labour has called a meeting of child care activists for Wednesday, March 15. Out of that meeting will come a coalition that will work to stop the Conservative agenda to dismantle the fledgling national child care program.

The Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada has launched a petition and open letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, provincial premiers and federal opposition leaders You can help in this fight by reading the open letter, then signing the petition. You can read the letter and sign the petition online, or download a PDF of the letter which you can print and circulate for signatures, then mail or fax to the Child Care Advocacy Association.
