Broken Promises at MTS Centre
So what do the True North operators of the MTS Centre and the Manitoba Moose have in common. Mark Chipman. That's why the MFL and the Winnipeg Labour Council organized a mass picket on October 20 before the home opener for the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre in support of brothers and sisters in IATSE local 63 who are being denied the work they used to do when the old Winnipeg Arena was a major entertainment centre in Winnipeg. Instead, Chipman channeled the work off to NASCO, an anti-union staging company from outside Manitoba.
You may remember the mass picket that was to be held outside the MTS Centre the night of the Juno Awards. You know, the one that was called off because True North (Chipman) promised to get serious and resume negotiations the following Monday. That promise disappeared as soon as the Juno set was struck. Won't be falling for that crap again! This mass picket is just the start of fun things that have been planned, not just for Mark and the boys, but for anything and anybody associated with the building. |
