MFL Convention 2009 a Resounding Success

Convention delegates from MGEU

The MFL's 2009 Convention at the Keystone Centre in Brandon was attended by close to 500 people. During the three days of the convention, delegates heard presentations and reports, discussed and voted on numerous resolutions, and saw a number of people honoured for their past contributions to the labour movement.

They also elected a new president, treasurer, two executive vice-presidents, plus other positions on the MFL Executive Council. Speakers they heard from included Gary Doer, the premier of Manitoba for the past 10 years by who, barely more than two weeks after the convention, would be off to Washington, D.C., to take up his new post as Canadian Ambassador to the U.S.
