While most of Friday was spent in workshops, the participants were treated to a piece of history on the 1919 General Strike featuring "The Notorious Mrs. Armstrong". CLC Executive VP Sister Barb Byers and MFL President Sister Darlene Dziewit spoke at the Friday evening reception.

A display set up for the memorial luncheon

Saturday's luncheon, on December 6, was focused on a 'memorial' honoring the 14 young women massacred in Montreal on December 6, 1989. Guest speaker Nancy Allan, Manitoba's Minister of Labour and Immigration and the Minister responsible for the Status of Women spoke on the need to continue working to eliminate violence. Participants at the luncheon honored those Manitoba Women who have died at the hands of violence during the past year. NDP Member of Parliament Judy Wasylysa-Leis made a point of 'popping in' to speak to the conference delegates.
